concurrency (parallel tasking)
did you know you can do parallel tasking using the
START command and jobs with batch files? if you work at it, you could even control the number of concurrent jobs by monitoring the existence of "I'm done" files and then deleting them and decrementing the core usage counter.
START /? to get help
if you wanted to do a parallel build system for example, I suppose you could use a command that controls the jobs to run the builds which would block or start a job. this would be the main thread.
a better, easier alternative would be to do make -j 12 for 12 threads, if it doesn't make the compiler error, and there's also the problem of STDOUT blocking.
