dos apps

the results of much research and testing have proven to me that my DJGPP-compiled apps will run under XP Mode in 64-bit windows 7. and it was nice to know that at least some of you cared for my DOS apps. Sometimes I wonder if I am making a difference.

9x/me GUI apps

I am having an issue with the Auto-it3 compiler which is used to make the GUIs for the windows apps (I know of no other method for making windows apps easily). the current revision of the compiler only generates UNICODE (NT/2000/xp/vista/2003/2008/2008r2/7/8), not ANSI (windows 9x/me) code. sorry to those who have windows 9x boxes. I will see what I can do about it. the older compiler which is ANSI-compliant has different coding requirements, and it would require massive coding changes to all my programs.

I am slowly investigating the fltk C++ GUI library and I am going to see if:

  • I can compile it
  • I can utilize it
  • it's easy to use
  • runs on win9x/me
  • doesn't use a DLL (statically linked)
  • works with threads
