Black screen OR boots, but works funny

dropping most desktops is detrimental to their health. some laptops were made to be dropped, but not yours. remove the hard drive from the laptop (look at the bottom of the laptop) and put it in an apricorn ez drive upgrade kit - it acts like a universal 2.5" usb external drive case. then you can plug it into another machine and get your data off (50% chance).

usually costs just about as much to fix the laptop as it does to buy a new one in cases like these. you can have an authoized repair shop make you an estimate.

get an SSD next time

smaller storage, but likely not susceptible to droppage like a hard drive or screen. I kept track of SSDs for a while and looked for the big ones.
