CDR/DVD+R media wont work in burner

it is probably not recognizing the "new type" of media you are giving it. companies come out with new "types" of cdr media all the time and DVD burner manufacturers comstantly have to update their firmware and burner inventory to keep up. it may be time for a firmware update of your optical drive. go to your manufacturer's web site and download the firmware update and follow the instructions.

OR

stick with taiyo yuden media. it's compatible with all drives. hut beware, there are knock-offs out there.

taiyo yuden media
works in anything.
taiyo yuden 700MB 80m CDR, available from $19.90-22.90/100 (silver lacquer)
cyanine dye
taiyo yuden 4.7GB DVD+R, available from $35.90(silver lacquer)-41.90/100
cyanine dye
taiyo yuden gold matte 650MB 74m CDR 52x, available from mediasupply.com $40.70/100
cyanine dye, unlike the Mitsui. useful in the case where you have old laptops. pretects from fingerprint damage.
gold archival media
If you need to have something last 300 years, this is the stuff. Mitsui MAM-A works for older drive mechanisms!
gold 650MB/74m Mitsui MAM-A Archival CDR, available from mediasupply.com $121/100
gold 650MB/74m Mitsui MAM-A audio master cd for 1-12x drives, available from mediasupply.com $69.50/50
gold 4.7GB Mitsui MAM-A archival 8x DVD+R, available from mediasupply.com $119.50/50
I have found that only DVD+R can be used for data, and movies. it is the opnly media which I have gotten to work.
